OVERVIEW
- This 1951 Land Rover Series 1 was originally built in Solihull, UK and exported to Germany
- Underwent an extensive mechanical and cosmetic restoration including a rebuild of the engine, transmission, a full body repaint, interior re-upholstery and much more
- This Land Rover’s history includes various owners in Europe including Switzerland (1960s), France (1980s), and the UK (2000s), before being exported to UAE in 2017
- Was bought in the UAE in 2018 as a restoration project
- Post restoration, this Series 1 was registered in Dubai as a Classic in the summer of 2019
OUTSIDE
- Restoration included a full disassembly and bare metal body repair
- Repainted in the factory color Bronze Green
- Features a fold-down windshield and a new removable canvas soft top with side curtains that can be raised and removable doors
- Accompanied by a removable aluminum hardtop
- Replaced front bumper, door handles, side windows, head lamps, fender-mounted mirrors, turn signals, and tail lights with original reproductions
- Refurbished front grill and galvanized steel trim, all round
INSIDE
- Interior fully upholstered in green vinyl leather along with new weatherstripping
- New lap seat belts have been fitted
- Original refurbished central instrument cluster, odometer, steering wheel and shifter
UNDER THE HOOD
- This Series 1 is powered by an original numbers matching gasoline 2.0L inline-four engine with a rebuilt Solex carburettor
- Features a rebuilt 4-speed manual transmission and 2-speed transfer case
- A full engine rebuild was completed using stock internals and an original gasket and seal kit was completed by Seb Sports, a classic car restoration specialist in Dubai in August 2019
UNDERNEATH
- New single muffler exhaust system
- Stock 16” inch wheels color matched to the body bronze green
- Equipped with new drum brakes and replaced master brake cylinder
GOOD TO KNOW
This Land Rover has undergone an extensive high quality restoration completed in February 2019. The owner has added approximately 2,500 KMs since restoration
- Engine sump cover has a minor oil leak
- Rear axle has a minor oil leak at the wheel
- Floor on the driver’s side has some wear and tear scratches
- One of the instrument cluster gauges has a cracked glass cover but still works
RESTORATION & UPGRADES
- Full drivetrain rebuild (engine, transmission, and transfer case) along with a new clutch install by Seb Sport
- Refurbished Solex carburettor
- New fuel pump, fuel lines, and fuel filter were fitted
- New brake line, brake drums, and master cylinder were fitted with refurbished factory wheels
- Full repaint in factory bronze green with galvanized steel bumpers and trim
- Replaced headlights, taillights, and all exterior trim with original parts
- 4 new tires fitted in late 2019
- New tan colored canvas soft-top with adjustable side curtains
- Refurbished aluminum hard top
