OVERVIEW
First introduced in 1980, the 60 series Land Cruiser quickly became a Toyota fan favourite. This generation LC combined off-road capability and a more comfortable interior for those long road trips with the family. Its rugged reliability, practicality, and simple and boxy body lines cemented its status as an off-road greatest hit.
This FJ62 is a 1988 model which saw an exterior facelift, interior updates, and, most importantly, the more desirable 3F 4.0L inline-six producing about 25% more power (155hp & 220 lb ft.) than the outgoing 2F. The 3F comes mated to its factory 5-speed manual and standard 4-wheel drive.
This is a highly optioned and stock GCC spec vehicle. It is believed that this Land Cruiser was repainted in its current shade of Blue under a previous owner. This VX trim LC comes equipped with front and rear AC, the highly desired ice box, and third-row bench seats. It also comes with the highly desired ambulance rear doors that were not typically seen outside the region.
“The Toyota FJ62 (Land Cruiser) makes no bones about its intended mission: it will get you anywhere, at roughly the same speed no matter the surface, in surprising comfort and with steadfast dignity…The entire Land Cruiser family carries a certain cachet among casual and passionate fans alike. It is equal parts regal and approachable, familiar and noteworthy.”
